The management of a private hospital in Naivasha, Nakuru County ,is trying to come to terms with an incident where a mother is alleged to have abandoned her newborn baby in the facility due to deformities.
According to the management of ITARC hospital in Longonot Town, the mother termed the newborn as cursed , refusing to breastfeed or clothe her after she was born.
The child had a rare deformity mainly around her face , a medic at the facility , Benson Kimani said that the child does not have a nose , her skull is not fully formed ,and some of her fingers and toes are missing.
Kimani said the mother abandoned the child after she saw the deformities
ITARC Hospital’s management is now urgently seeking an expert to conduct surgery around the skull to save the child’s life.![](https://touchlinenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/download-14-1.jpeg)

Kimani noted that the minor is breathing through her mount due to the deformity, raising fears of an infection.
“She was born in the facility with the part of her face missing before the family members escaped , terming her as cursed ,” said the medic.
The hospital staff have been attending to the child since she was abandoned. However, the management has emphasised the urgency of collective surgery to rectify her condition.
On his part , Dr Muchai Kimani ,who is also a medic at the facility, said the mother rejected her child citing the community beliefs.
Currently the hospital is feeding the child formula milk as they look for another facility to transfer her for specialised surgery.
“Upon birth, the mother would not even look at the child and refused to breastfeed her before she fled,” said Dr. Muchai.
